11. Thinking that alcohol-containing cosmetics dry your skin

If the skin care product is not as effective as it used to be, maybe it’s because your skin needs a different kind of care. So, you need new cosmetics.

6. Thinking that UV light doesn’t hurt your hair

UV light can damage your hair, but it definitely decreases the strength of keratin. After a long exposure to UV light, hair becomes dry and brittle. In order to protect it from damage, you can use sprays, styling products, and water-resistant hair conditioners with UV filters. It’s important to remember that usual shampoos and conditioners with UV filters won’t give the same effect because they are simply washed off with water.

5. Trying to tighten pores using special serums

This may be disappointing news for some, but unfortunately, there are no products that can tighten pores. The size of skin pores is determined by a person’s genes. Using cosmetics only leads to a short-term visual effect — pores become less noticeable because they are covered with keratin, sweat, and bacteria. And in order to really make pores less noticeable, it’s necessary to use a good concealer or foundation.

4. Believing that all natural cosmetics are hypoallergenic

In most cases, only one of the ingredients causes an allergic reaction. And it doesn’t matter if the product is natural or synthetic. So, before you buy a new product, try to get a sample of it and put it on your arm to see if you are allergic to it. This way, you can reduce the risk of buying useless and harmful products.

3. Using cosmetics only from the same product line

Companies produce cosmetic lines as one thing that must solve a number of problems. But sometimes it happens that not all the products from the series work well for us. For example, creams moisturize the skin really well, but the tonic dries it. In this case, there is nothing bad about buying a necessary product from a different company. It’s important to choose the products so that they are right for your type of skin.
